On Sep. 7, 2023, BodiMetrics announced that its circul pro Ring has received FDA 510(k) clearance as a pulse oximeter. According to the company, the device’s form factor and LED technology make it uniquely designed to accurately measure blood oxygen level on people with any skin tone.
About the circul pro Ring
The circul pro Ring is a wearable device powered by a rechargeable lithium battery. It features LED sensors and a spring-loaded design to ensure a snug fit. The stability and sensor positioning on the palmar surface of the finger allow the ring to collect continuous oxygen saturation readings for up to 12 hours, regardless of skin tone.
According to the company’s press release, a recent peer-reviewed study in Mayo Clinic Proceedings: Digital Health found the ring provided accurate blood oxygen measurements in all skin tones — an important finding amid concerns that fingertip pulse oximeters may provide inaccurate readings for people with darker pigmented skin.
The circul pro Ring is available to consumers without a prescription.
