On Oct. 8, 2024, Vivos Therapeutics, Inc. announced the American Medical Association (AMA) has issued new current procedural terminology (CPT) coverage and reimbursement codes applicable to all Vivos CARE oral medical devices, which will become effective Jan. 1, 2025.

The changes include new codes for Vivos CARE oral medical devices. These new medical codes will now facilitate coverage and reimbursement by commercial medical insurance payers for Vivos CARE treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in adults and children.
About Vivos CARE oral appliances
Vivos Therapeutics’ CARE oral appliances represent a non-invasive alternative to CPAP for patients with severe OSA. The appliances gradually reposition the hard and soft tissues that define a patient’s airway, thereby opening it up and optimizing its function and flow.
The company first announced it received FDA 510(k) clearance for its line of CARE oral appliances for the treatment of severe OSA in Nov. 2023. In Sept. 2024, Vivos Therapeutics announced it received FDA 510(k) clearance for its oral appliance to treat moderate to severe OSA and snoring in children.
Currently, Vivos’ CARE oral medical devices are the only ones cleared by the FDA for the treatment of moderate to severe OSA, according to the company’s press release.
About oral appliance therapy
Oral appliance therapy is a non-invasive treatment for snoring and sleep apnea, involving the use of a removable device worn in the mouth during sleep. These appliances, varying in appearance, are favored by some patients for their ease of use and portability, as they are smaller and more travel-friendly compared to traditional CPAP machines, taking a few weeks for most individuals to adapt to sleeping with them.
