Study explores hip fracture risk among zolpidem users

A retrospective population cohort study from Taiwan shows that hip fracture incidence was two times higher among first-time zolpidem users than nonusers. The risk increased with age for both cohorts, according to the study in the April issue of SLEEP. Approximately 20 percent of fracture episodes occurred during the medication days.
