As portable monitoring becomes widely utilized in the practice of sleep medicine, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine is offering numerous educational programs that discuss the clinical, regulatory, research and economic aspects.

Portable Monitoring: Different Perspectives, is a series of four webinars designed for sleep medicine specialists looking for a more in-depth overview of issues related to portable monitoring.

The first webinar in the series, Portable Monitoring: The Regulatory Environment is September 23, 2008, at 12:00 p.m. CT. Nancy Collop, MD, will discuss the AASM guidelines for portable monitoring and present a typical patient evaluation that meets these guidelines. Dr. Collop will also review Medicare decisions that regulate the use of portable monitors with a focus on the similarities and differences between Medicare regulations and AASM guidelines.
