When 80-year-new Regis Philbin bid farewell last week to his longtime stint as daytime talk show co-host, the Los Angeles Times seized the opportunity to revisit various studies that followed the health of retirees after they left their jobs. Among the statistics cited was a 2009 study from the journal SLEEP, which looked at the sleeping habits of 14,714 retirees who worked for a French national gas and electric company. They were interviewed seven years before and after retiring. The conclusion?  Sleep improved significantly after retirement.
