The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) announced a call for applications for a new research program involving sleep diseases.

The new program (R01) will determine the optimal research design and pilot test the feasibility and implementation of a randomized clinical trial that will establish the effects of bariatric surgery on type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk factors in people with type 2 diabetes or in cardiovascular, lung, and sleep diseases in people.
