Several Health lobbying groups are warning lawmakers about the negative consequences to the health care industry if the $1.2 trillion in spending cuts scheduled under the sequester take effect in 2013. A White House report found that about $11 billion in total spending would be cut from Medicare, while NIH would lose $2.5 billion.
Medicare providers also are targeting lawmakers and their staff with ads that will air in the Washington, D.C., area. The ads objective is to remind policymakers that the cuts could potentially jeopardize health care for tens of thousands of U.S. residents.
