The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is excited to kick off the 2026 AASM “Sleep for Success” High School Video Contest. This annual event invites teens to get creative, share their voice, and help others understand why sleep matters. It’s a fun way to learn, inspire, and compete for a prize, all while spreading an important message about healthy sleep.
Students can enter by creating an original 30- to 90-second video that helps teens understand the importance of prioritizing sleep. Entries may be submitted in one of the following categories:
- Short Film / Original Story: A live-action fictional short featuring original characters, storytelling, and a creative plot centered on healthy sleep.
- Musical / Parody: A fun song or playful reinterpretation of a well-known movie, series, or viral moment with a sleep-health twist.
- Animation / Anime: An animated piece that uses art and motion to highlight why sleep is essential.
No matter the style, the goal is the same: show why sleep is important for teens and how it shapes daily life. Videos can be funny, heartfelt, creative, or educational; the style is up to the creator.
Participating in the contest gives teens a chance to build media skills, explore storytelling, and make a real impact. Winning videos will be featured by the AASM, giving students a platform to share their message with a wide audience.
Sleep plays a key role in focus, learning, mood, creativity, athletic performance, and staying safe on the road. When teens get the sleep they need, they think more clearly, feel better, and have more energy — making healthy sleep an important topic worth spotlighting.
Prizes
Winners will receive a $1,000 cash prize, and the teacher connected to the winning entry will receive a $100 gift card. It’s a rewarding opportunity for both students and educators.
