Classifications for International Membership

In an effort to provide sleep medicine clinicians residing in developing countries with an easy access to training and education in sleep research, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine is pleased to offer reduced membership dues to potential members in all areas of the world listed below.

The geographical areas are divided into two categories, which are based on the developing countries identified by the World Bank as those with an economic standing of low to lower-middle income. The developing countries with low income economies (Category I) have a gross national income (GNI) per capita at US $1,045 or less. The developing countries with a lower-middle income economy (Category II) have a gross national income (GNI) at US $1,046 – 4,095 with some countries developing at various rates.

Reductions in the AASM membership fees are based on individual member’s work and residence location. A member can apply for reduced dues online or via fax or regular mail.  Members working or residing outside the countries listed below are required to pay full membership dues.
