Membership Updates

The AASM appreciates your support this past year, and we look forward to your continued commitment in 2019. Together we represent a significant voice, and as a group we make a positive difference in the field of sleep medicine. Here are some new member benefits and resources to look forward to this year:

Diversity and Inclusion at the AASM

For the 2018/2019 membership year, the AASM Board of Directors (AASM BOD) commissioned a Diversity and Inclusion Task Force to evaluate how well the AASM does in fostering a welcoming environment for all members. The task force is currently assessing the AASM membership to identify underrepresented groups, detect any barriers to diversity and inclusion, and recommend strategies to the AASM BOD for improvement.

As part of this effort, the task force is gathering demographic data of AASM members, including information on gender, special accommodations, practice type, and race and ethnicity. To do this, the task force kindly asks you to answer 4 short questions. The information collected will not be shared externally, except for aggregate reporting purposes.

Your input is encouraged! Here’s how you can participate:

  • Log in to your AASM account.
  • Select ‘Edit Profile’ in the upper right-hand corner.
  • Scroll down to ‘Diversity and Inclusion Data Collection.’
  • Complete the available questions.
  • Click ‘Update Account.’
