On Oct. 8, 2024, Happy Health announced it received FDA clearance for its Happy Ring, which monitors health metrics such as sleep, blood oxygen, heart rate, activity, temperature and brain activity.
About Happy Ring
Happy Ring is a wearable medical device smart ring that continuously monitors physiologic parameters, including acceleration/movement, electrodermal activity, blood oxygen saturation, pulse rate and peripheral skin temperature. It features a ceramic exterior and medical-grade platinum skin sensors.
Worn on the finger, the ring collects raw data via biometric sensors. The data are transmitted via Bluetooth to a mobile app, where various physiological parameters are computed. The raw and processed data are stored, analyzed and accessible by health care professionals or researchers via a physician data viewer.
Happy Health’s platform uses personalized machine learning algorithms and generative AI to integrate data into a clinical context. Patients and their care teams receive notifications and alerts based on the data.
The Happy Ring health monitoring system is intended for the retrospective remote monitoring of physiological parameters in adults at home or in health care facilities, such as hospitals or nursing homes. It’s designed to collect data in support of intermittent monitoring by health care professionals or researchers.
According to the company’s press release, Happy Ring will be available directly to consumers at launch through the Happy Sleep website and partnerships with hospital systems, physician groups and other medical service providers. Happy Health’s first clinical program, Happy Sleep, will launch later this year.
