The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently posted, “Quality in Motion: Acting on the CMS National Quality Strategy.” The “CMS National Quality Strategy” consists of four main priority areas: equity and engagement, outcomes and alignment, safety and resiliency, and interoperability and scientific advancement. Each priority area has two corresponding goals. See the image below.
The action plan outlines the specific steps that CMS is taking to implement these eight goals effectively. This “call-to-action” invites stakeholders to:
- Prioritize the use of “Universal Foundation” quality measures
- Commit to improving health care safety and reducing harm
- Advance health equity to improve health outcome and eliminate disparities
