The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the finalized 2025 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathways (MVPs), including a new pulmonology care MVP, which was developed by the AASM in collaboration with several other agencies and CMS.

The pulmonology care MVP focuses on evaluating optimal care for patients being treated for a range of pulmonology conditions, including COPD, asthma, sleep apnea, and general pulmonary issues. The AASM recommends it for MIPS submissions.

MVPs are intended to offer a more complete evaluation of care quality and a simplified and condensed set of metrics and improvement initiatives. They also can potentially alleviate reporting burden across CMS programs.

Members may send questions regarding the MIPS program and this pulmonology MVP to registry@aasm.org.
