The data shown in this report is from the 2021 Quality Payment Program (QPP) experience report. The purpose of this summary is to provide data specific to sleep medicine providers as it relates to Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) measures. Per the 2021 QPP experience report, 698,859 clinicians received a MIPS payment adjustment, including 516 sleep medicine providers. The report indicates that 89.5% (462) of the sleep medicine providers received bonus points for the quality category.

The graph below shows the top 10 measures contributing to sleep medicine providers’ quality performance along with the two AASM MIPS measures (277 & 279). The number shown indicates the frequency by which each specific measure was submitted for the MIPS quality final score.

The AASM encourages sleep providers to also report these Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) sleep-specific measures, which are included in the MIPS program:

  • AASM 1 (Pediatric OSA: Objective Assessment of Positive Airway Pressure Therapy Adherence)
  • AASM 2 (Pediatric OSA: Objective Assessment of OSA Signs and Symptoms in Children with Complex Medical Conditions)
  • AASM 3 (Adult OSA: Screening for Adult OSA by Primary Care Physicians)

Questions regarding AASM MIPS and/or AASM QCDR measures should be directed to our registry team at registry@aasm.org. Learn more about the AASM Sleep Clinical Data Registry (Sleep CDR).
