A randomized, controlled, comparative efficacy trial shows that cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) performed better than Tai Chi Chih in remission of clinical insomnia among 123 older adults. CBT also showed greater and more sustained improvement in sleep quality, sleep parameters, fatigue, and depressive symptoms. Compared with a sleep seminar education control, Tai Chi was associated with improvements in sleep quality, fatigue, and depressive symptoms but not insomnia remission. Study results are published in the September issue of the journal SLEEP.
