A study in the December issue of SLEEP reports that scores on both the Functional Outcomes of Sleep Questionnaire (FOSQ) and Sleep Apnea Quality of Life Index (SAQLI) improved after three months of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). According to the authors, these instruments provide unique information about health outcomes beyond that provided by changes in physiological measures of OSA severity. The research was supported by a grant from the American Sleep Medicine Foundation (ASMF).
