Several amendments to the current Bylaws of the AASM have been recommended by the Governance Committee. The amended bylaws are being presented to the AASM membership for a 60-day comment period prior to a vote by the Board of Directors.

The amended bylaws contain the following changes:

Article II, Section 2: A new section describes network membership eligibility to align with the new service-based model of AASM accreditation, which groups service locations that share staff and policies into a network.

Article II, Section 8: Changes ensure that a member who is expelled by the Executive Committee may appeal the decision to the Board of Directors.

Article III, Section 10: A new section clarifies how vacancies on the Board of Directors are filled.

Article IV, Section 1b: New language specifies that the President-Elect presides at all meetings of the Committee on Committees.

Members may submit comments or questions about the amended bylaws by Dec. 31, 2024, using the email form on the Contact Us page of the AASM website.
