Come see us at the American Public Health Association’s (APHA) Annual Meeting and Expo. We will have two booths at the Expo! The AASM Foundation will be promoting our programs and meeting with public health professionals at Booth 424.
The AASM is exhibiting at Booth 325 on behalf of the Count on Sleep Campaign to educate attendees about Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
The Count on Sleep campaign seeks to address the Healthy People 2030 initiative’s key objective of increasing the proportion of adults with sleep apnea symptoms who get evaluated by a health care provider. As part of this campaign, a National Indicator Report was created to provide the public, healthcare professionals, and the public health community with an in-depth review of obstructive sleep apnea and its impact on public health. This first-of its kind document specifically contains current information gathered by field experts on symptoms, risk factors, health outcomes, and long-term care management of sleep apnea. It also includes data regarding healthcare costs and prevalence across special populations and communities, including Hispanic or Latino persons, Black or African American persons, and American Indian or Alaska Native persons. Public health professionals, policy makers, state health departments, and communities can use this report card to increase awareness and reduce the number of individuals with undiagnosed and untreated OSA.
In addition, the campaign has also produced a number of resources for primary health care professionals including a library of clinical vignettes, practice algorithms short videos, templates, billing resources and links to pre-recorded podcasts and webinars. To complement these, there are resources for patients including a symptom checklist in English and Spanish and a conversation guide.
