Jennifer L. Martin, PhD, served as president of the board of directors for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) in 2022-2023. She is board-certified in behavioral sleep medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM). She is an endowed professor in the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University and director of the Benjamin Leon Jr. Family Center for Geriatric Research and Education.
Dr. Martin has expertise in insomnia, geriatrics, women’s health, and providing care for veterans with sleep disorders. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of California, San Diego, as part of the SDSU/UCSD joint doctoral program. Dr. Martin completed her clinical internship at Brown University and her post-doctoral training in geriatrics at the University of California, Los Angeles.
In recognition of World Sleep Day, Dr. Martin will host a Reddit AMA to answer sleep questions on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11 a.m. EDT.
