The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) was represented at the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) Nexus 2024 Annual Conference by Dr. Shannon Sullivan, who gave a presentation, “Sleep Medicine as a Prototype for Patient-Centered Virtual Care.” The theme for the conference was, “The Next Chapter for Virtual Care,” and attendees explored virtual care in the real world.

The conference convened the changemakers, front-line health care professionals, government agency representatives, and patient advocates who are defining the “new normal” for tech-enabled care and shaping its prospects for the future. Presenters examined new realities, highlighted the lessons learned, and shared actionable insights and use cases.

The AASM is pleased to continue strengthening our partnership with the ATA. Together we are advocating for the continued expansion of telemedicine as well as for the current telemedicine flexibilities to be made permanent. The AASM also thanks Dr. Sullivan for presenting at the conference and for continuing to represent the AASM in multiple health policy and advocacy initiatives.

Members may send questions about AASM’s telemedicine advocacy efforts and collaboration with the ATA to coding@aasm.org.
