The American Academy of Sleep Medicine joined more than 450 national health care organizations in signing on to a letter urging Congress to pass a long-term solution for Medicare telehealth coverage.

The letter, sent to congressional leaders on Nov. 4, 2025, highlights how repeated short-term extensions have created care disruptions for millions of Medicare beneficiaries and uncertainty for providers. It urges Congress to restore telehealth access and work with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to retroactively reimburse clinicians who continued providing care after the latest expiration.

By signing on, the AASM reinforces its commitment to ensuring patients maintain access to sleep medicine services delivered via telehealth and to advancing permanent, bipartisan solutions that support care continuity.
