The AASM Board of Directors has submitted a final draft proposal for an integrated delivery model for sleep medicine to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The proposal is the result of months of discussion about the future role of the sleep specialist in patient care. AASM leadership feels strongly that an integrated model that allows sleep specialists to be actively involved in the care of patients beyond diagnostic testing to include treatment and long-term follow-up will result in improved patient outcomes and overall cost savings in the treatment of sleep disorders.
