Fariha Abbasi-Feinberg MD, FAASM, FAAN is a Board-certified Sleep Medicine Physician and serves on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. She presently practices in Ft. Myers FL as Medical Director of Sleep Medicine for Millennium Physician Group.
She has been involved with various AASM committees, over the last 14 years with a special interest in coding/compliance, provider burn- out and happiness as well as business aspects of sleep medicine.
She has been featured in numerous publications, appeared on television programs and radio shows.

Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown is a pediatric pulmonologist and sleep physician.
She completed her Sleep Medicine fellowship at the University of Philadelphia and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and she stayed as faculty at the University of Pennsylvania until recently.
She is the founder of The Restful Sleep Place where she provides sleep services to children and young adults with various sleep disorders.
As a physician in practice for almost two decades and a mom of two who struggled with sleep issues, she fully understands the impact of sleep deprivation on our mental, physical, and emotional health. As a result, she has dedicated her career to helping families optimize sleep to thrive.
She has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications and is the author of Beyond Tired. A sleep physician’s guide to solving your child’s sleep physician for good.

She served on the AASM board of directors, including as President and the ABSM board of directors including as president. She has served on the board of directors for the American Sleep Medicine Foundation; the ACCP; the Chest Foundation; the Maryland and Georgia Sleep societies; and the Society for Anesthesia and Sleep Medicine. She was a Founding member of the ABMS Sleep Medicine Examination Committee.
Collop has been named “Best Doctors in America” and a “Distinguished Alumna for Natural Sciences” by Edinboro University. She has received numerous awards including the “Al Soffer Award for Editorial Excellence”, the “College Medalist” award, and was conferred as a “Master Fellow” in 2020 from the ACCP. She has received “Distinguished Service Awards” from the Maryland Sleep Society, the ACCP and the AASM “Nathanial Kleitman Award”.
She was the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine from 2015-2024 and is the Section Editor of Sleep Medicine for Up-To-Date

Dr. Deak graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Yale University. She completed her Neurology Residency at New York University School of Medicine and University of Massachusetts Medical School, where she served as Chief Resident. She subsequently completed a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She is board certified in Neurology and Sleep Medicine.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Deak was Senior Medical Director of Sleep at EviCore Healthcare. She previously served as Academic Faculty in the Division of Sleep and Circadian Disorders, Departments of Neurology and Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She has also served as a Medical Expert for the the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, since 2016.

Dr. Goldstein’s research uses consumer facing sleep tracking devices and mathematical modeling to assess sleep patterns and circadian rhythms in the ambulatory, day-to-day setting to determine their role in health and disease (including in women’s reproductive health, multiple sclerosis, and gastrointestinal conditions). Her international expertise in sleep tracking technology is highlighted by her role as one of the lead authors of the ‘State of the Science and Recommendations for Using Wearable Technology in Sleep and Circadian Research’ from the Sleep Research Society (SRS) and as a member of the task force for Consumer Sleep Tracker Guidelines by the World Sleep Society (WSS).
She serves the sleep community as one of the senior editors of the sleep field’s sentinel text, Principles and Practice of Sleep Medicine, and additionally, holds editorial roles for UpToDate and the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine. She was previously the chair of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM)’s Artificial Intelligence in Sleep Medicine Committee and speaks internationally in this area.
Dr Goldstein educates a variety of learners including training physicians, peer groups, University of Michigan athletes (and athletic staff), and the public via numerous media outlets (CNN, New York Times, Time) and podcasts.
In her work at the U-M Sleep Disorders Center, she cares for patients with various sleep conditions. She is the sleep department’s physician champion for virtual care and Epic, and the billing and compliance officer for Neurology.

Dr. Kaplish is interested in teaching the residents/fellows various aspects of chronic sleep disorders and interface of neurologic diseases and sleep disorders. Dr. Kaplish is involved in study looking for sleep disorders in patients with multiple sclerosis, is a co-investigator on study of sleep perception in patients with obstructive sleep apnea as well as study of inflammatory markers in patients with obstructive sleep apnea, depression and both sleep apnea/depression as compared to controls. Dr. Kaplish is also involved in a study on studying robotic therapy modes for treating sleep disorders.

Dr. Khan is dedicated to sleep medicine education. She is currently Program Director of the Sleep Medicine Fellowship and has served on various AASM committees including the Sleep Medicine Program Directors Committee, the Innovative Fellowship Models Task Force, and currently, the Education Committee. She also Co-Directed the AASM Fellows Bootcamp for 3 years.
Clinically, Dr Khan oversees the neurostimulation programs for sleep disordered breathing which include hypoglossal nerve stimulation and transvenous phrenic nerve stimulation therapies.

Dr. Jeremy McConnell, is the founder of Florida Sleep Specialists and Discover Health Obesity Medicine Clinic, in Bradenton, Florida. Dr. McConnell earned his medical degree at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. He completed a residency at Bayfront Family Health Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dr. McConnell is board certified in family medicine with certificate of added qualifications in sleep medicine. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, Master Fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association, co-founder and Chair of the Florida Obesity Society, and 2019 Obesity Medicine Association Clinician of the Year.

Within the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), Dr. Shelgikar was elected as a member and later chair of the Sleep Medicine Fellowship Directors Council Steering Committee. She has served on the AASM Education Committee and the Fellowship Models Exploratory Committee, and served as the vice-chair for the Innovative Fellowship Model Implementation Presidential Committee. Dr. Shelgikar currently serves on the AASM Board of Directors as President-Elect and is a Past President of the AASM Foundation.
