The AASM is seeking applicants interested in supporting the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s (AASM’s) efforts to develop a certification program that will provide oversight of artificial intelligence (AI) sleep scoring packages and help move the field of sleep medicine forward.
The AASM is forming a Gold Standard Panel consisting of two physicians and three sleep technologists. Each panellist will be responsible for stage scoring numerous overnight sleep studies. The Gold Standard results will allow the AASM to evaluate the performance of AI scoring packages for the AASM AI Pilot Certification Program. The panellists will be compensated for successfully scoring each sleep study.
Role
We’re looking for five members who have at least six years of experience scoring sleep studies and are proficient in applying the AASM scoring rules. While not required, we would prefer candidates who have experience using the AASM Sleep ISR platform. Sleep technologists must be registered, and physicians must be board certified in sleep medicine.
Process
If you are interested in participating in this new initiative, please submit a letter of interest along with your resume/cv to aigsp@aasm.org. Selected candidates will be invited to interview for these positions to discuss the project in more detail. Upon successful completion of the interview process, finalists will be asked to score three sleep records utilizing the AASM Sleep ISR Platform.
Timeline
Submissions will be accepted through Feb. 28, 2022. We expect to form the Gold Standard Panel by mid-April. We anticipate that the bulk of the sleep study scoring will occur between May and August.
