Sleep Medicine Disruptors Innovation Award

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is accepting submissions for the inaugural Sleep Medicine Disruptors Innovation Award, which recognizes innovative products, features, and services that support sleep health and advance the practice of sleep medicine. Sleep is essential to health, and disruption and innovation are accelerating the ability of the AASM and its members to advance sleep care and enhance sleep health to improve lives.

Entries in this new award program will be evaluated by a panel of sleep medicine professionals, who will select the finalists that will be invited to give a pitch presentation at Sleep Medicine Disruptors 2025 in Austin, Texas. Attendees of this in-person and livestreamed event will select the award winners.

Eligibility

Eligible entries include:

  • New features for existing products
  • New products that have been recently launched
  • Emerging products that have not yet reached the market
  • Pre-market concepts and prototypes

Submission requirements

The Innovation Award entry form with payment information must be submitted via email, along with the other submission requirements listed below, to the AASM Meeting Department at presentations@aasm.org. An entry form will not be considered complete if any of the below requirements are missing.

  • Completed entry form
  • Product description (up to 250 words)
  • Up to 5 photos/concept images
  • Up to 3 links to product webpages or videos
  • Up to 3 supporting documents (e.g., product fact sheets, brochures, or user guides)
  • Entry fee of $250 (free for AASM Industry Engagement Program sponsors)

Selection criteria

Entries will be judged by a panel of sleep medicine professionals according to criteria including:

  • Disruption: The potential for the entry to change and improve the current landscape of sleep health and sleep care
  • Innovation: The originality and novelty of the concept and design
  • Solution: How the entry solves a significant problem
  • Function: The ease and practicality of its use
  • Dimension: The potential extent of the entry’s impact on sleep health and sleep care

Timeline

  • Entry form deadline: Sept. 8
  • Selection of finalists: Sept. 8 – Oct. 5
  • Announcement of finalists: Monday, Oct. 6
  • Pitch presentations by finalists: Nov. 14–15 in Austin
  • Selection of winners: Nov. 14–15 in Austin

  • In-person recognition in Austin
  • Online recognition on AASM website
  • AASM press release & social media announcement
  • Plaque

Additional Information

Finalists must commit to participating in person during the live pitch session in Austin, TX. Registration, travel, and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the applicant.
