The secondportionof our contribution
centers on amajor breakthrough in the
fieldof narcolepsy research.Vigorous
commendation is sent out toDr. Emmanuel
Mignot,Director, SleepSciences and
Medicine, StanfordUniversity, for his
recent discoveryof the locus of the epitope
(autoantigen) toward induction-onset
autoimmunenarcolepsy.This scientific
breakthroughwill likely lead to an ‘invitro’
test,whichwill enable clinicians to earlier
andmore accuratelydetect dysimmune
narcolepsy,with the addedbenefit of
swifter immunomodulatory intervention
and consequent sparingof thedepthof
profound, chronicdisease.
