Adjournment
The goal of the Movement Disorders Section is to provide a forum within the AASM
for all those interested in movement disorders in sleep.  For the past months, the
section steering committee prepared for the SLEEP 2015 meeting in Seattle. We
think our agenda for this year’s SRMD steering committee meeting will excite the
membership.  Therefore, we invite all those that are interested in the sleep-related
movement disorders to join the Movement Disorders Section meeting and become
an active participant.  The main goals of this meeting are to exchange ideas regarding
MD research, share information about the latest updates in clinical care of MD,
and establish a community of persons interested in MDs. During the meeting, we
will discuss and review session proposals to submit to for SLEEP 2015. Many times
these topics are created at the meeting itself, so anyone is welcome to come and
share their idea for a session topic. The proposals concern both basic and clinical
topics on any SRMD, including restless legs syndrome, periodic limb movements
during sleep, bruxism, and sleep disorders in Parkinson’s disease. For this year we are
happy that one submission, proposed by Dr. Denise Sharon, was accepted and will be
presented at SLEEP 2015 as a Clinical Workshop on June 9th at 8:00 AM, entitled:
“Management of Restless Legs Syndrome (Willis Ekbom Disease)/Periodic Limb
Movements in special conditions”. This workshop will provide a forum for review and
discussion of the assessment and management of RLS/PLM when complicated by
other conditions and disorders such as pregnancy, childhood, dementia, sleep related
breathing disorders, hypersomnia, psychiatric disorders and renal failure. We hope
that this interesting topic will attract all clinicians and researchers interested in the
understanding and care of patients with RLS/PLMS.
