Chair:
Michael Lazarus, PhD
Faculty:
Robert Greene, PhD; PhilipHaydon, PhD; and
TarjaPorkka-Heiskanen, MD, PhD
Psychologist Level of Content:
Advanced
Objectives:
1. Discussmolecular, cellular and anatomical
mechanisms of adenosine in sleep-wake regulation;
2. Recognize that adenosine differentially regulates
sleep homeostasis and behavioral states viamultiple
pathways and/or receptors; and
3. Review thedevelopment and application of cutting-
edgemolecular neuroscience tools, including gene
ablation strategies and genetically engineered
receptor-channel systems for in vivomodulationof
neuronal activities.
