This course will provide attendees training in the delivery
of evidence-based and cutting-edge behavioral sleep
medicine interventions for managing their sleep disorder
patients. Presentations will focus on a range of patient
types with primary and comorbid sleep disorders that can
and do benefit from front-line or adjunctive behavioral sleep
medicine services. Well-tested methods for behavioral
sleep medicine training and case supervision will also be
presented.

Learning Objectives:
1. Improve skills in applying behavioral sleep medicine
therapies for a range of sleep problems including
insomnia occurring comorbid to depression, pain,
sleep apnea, circadian rhythm sleep disorders, CPAP
non-adherence and sleep-disruptive nightmares;
2. Describe the empirical evidence supporting each of
the techniques discussed; and
3. Implement well-tested, systematic methods for
providing behavioral sleep medicine services.

This course will provide a review and update of pediatric
sleep guidelines in children with autism spectrum disorders,
neuromuscular disorders, Down Syndrome, Prader-Willi
Syndrome and achondroplasia. This course will include the
most recent recommendations from the American Academy
of Pediatrics, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and
the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and
Neck Surgery.

1. Review the pathophysiology underlying the sleep
disorders seen in children with autism spectrum
disorders, neuromuscular disorders, Down Syndrome,
Prader-Willi Syndrome and achondroplasia; and
2. Recognize the updated pediatric sleep guidelines
from the AAP, AASM and/or the AAO-HNS regarding
surveillance, evaluation and management of sleep
disorders in these patient populations.
