SUMMARY:Webinar: Self-Care for Sleep Professionals
DESCRIPTION:Self-care for Sleep Professionals During Difficult Times\nApril 1\, 2020\, 1 PM ET\nCOVID-19 has caused unprecedented disruption for sleep professionals\, patients\, and the public at large. Labs are closed\, practices are scrambling\, and the Sleep Team is socially distanced. Sleep research projects are paused. Industry commerce is reduced. Many professionals are tele-working\, and all are working in new ways – often with stir-crazy children at home. The stress is real\, as are the risks. Yet this too shall pass\, and a bright future lies ahead. In times of crisis\, sleep professionals need to be resilient. Fortunately\, resilience is a skill that can be learned. In this free and highly practical webinar\, sleep psychologist Dr. Emerson Wickwire will share strategies and tactics to enhance self-care for sleep professionals during difficult times: \n\nHow to maintain perspective\nHow to calm your body\nHow to manage fear\nHow to feel positive emotions\nHow to stay focused to accomplish your tasks\nHow to avoid boredom\nHow to maintain social connection\nHow to communicate with loved ones\nHow to enjoy life in difficult times\nAnd more…\n\nEmerson M. Wickwire\, PhD\, FAASM\, is associate professor of psychiatry and medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine\, and director of the Insomnia Program at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Wickwire is the author of over 100 articles\, chapters\, and abstracts\, and an award-winning educator. His active research portfolio includes over $3 million in grants and contracts focused on sleep health economics as well as remote monitoring and telehealth. Increasingly\, Dr. Wickwire is requested to speak on resilience\, well-being\, and career success among health care professionals.
