SUMMARY:Webinar: Beyond the Wrist - Actigraphy-Based Wearables in Sleep Medicine
DESCRIPTION:This is a members-only webinar. Please log in or sign up to continue. \nActigraphy is an essential tool in sleep medicine\, particularly for objectively evaluating sleep-wake patterns and aiding in the diagnosis and treatment monitoring of sleep disorders. Actigraphy-based wearables have evolved significantly in recent years in both capabilities and available sensors. These advancements come with benefits and challenges for clinicians and researchers in choosing a device for clinical or research uses\, data management\, costs\, and in interpreting results for patients. Increasingly\, commercial wearables are gaining medical clearance for physiologic monitoring and sleep-related indications. In this webinar\, members of the Emerging Technology Committee discuss available actigraphy devices\, considerations when choosing a device\, and the future of wearables for sleep-related and monitoring indications\, with implications for sleep medicine practitioners.  \nView Faculty and Planner Disclosures \nContinuing Education \nContinuing Medical Education\nThe American Academy of Sleep Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. \nThe AMA Council on Medical Education mandates that accredited providers only offer AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ to physicians. Non-physicians will be provided a letter of attendance indicating the number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ awarded for the sessions they attended. \nAASM designates these live activities for: AASM Committees Presents- Beyond the Wrist – Actigraphy-Based Wearables in Sleep Medicine \nA maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ \nPhysicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. \nContinuing Education Credit (CECS) For Sleep Technologists \nThis activity has been approved by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for: AASM Committees Presents- Beyond the Wrist – Actigraphy-Based Wearables in Sleep Medicine \nA maximum of 1.00 CECs for Sleep Technologists \nIndividuals should only claim those credits earned as a result of this activity. \nMaintenance of Certification (MOC) \nSuccessful completion of this CME activity\, which includes participation in the evaluation component\, enables the participant to earn up to: \n\n1.00 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program;\n1.00 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program; and\n1.00 annual part II self-assessment credit in the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery’s Continuing Certification program (formerly known as MOC).\n\n\n\n\n \n Login and Register Page\n \n\n\n\n \n Log In\n Join Today\n \n\n \n If you're already logged in and still cannot access this content\, you may need to renew your membership.

It is estimated that about half of the patients with OSA have poor long-term adherence to PAP therapy. This webinar sponsored by the Sleep Technologist and Respiratory Therapist Education Committee focuses on hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HNS) as an option for patients who struggle with PAP therapy. We will discuss different aspects of this form of neuromodulation therapy: patient selection\, surgical evaluation and implantation\, device activation and follow-up\, and HNS titration sleep study. \nView Faculty and Planner Disclosures \nSpeakersNotch Sigua\, MDStephanie Stahl\, MDThomas Kaffenberger\, MDMichael Bonacum\, MD (Moderator) \nContinuing Education \nContinuing Medical EducationThe American Academy of Sleep Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. \nThe AMA Council on Medical Education mandates that accredited providers only offer AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ to physicians.
