Meet the AASM Accreditation Team
Ray, Accreditation Manager
“I enjoy working with the department to ensure facilities not only achieve accreditation, but also assist them in understanding and implementing what is required to meet the standards.”
Ray started with the AASM in 2015. As the Accreditation Manager, he provides oversight for all of the activities within the Accreditation Department, and is very proud of the hard work that his team puts into helping facilities every day. He is a fan of the TV show Battlestar Galactica and enjoys physical fitness as well as spending quality time with his family.
Monica, Application Reviewer
“Ask questions, take time to review the standards, practice parameters, and clinical guidelines to ensure that you are in compliance. If possible, attain the reference manual and use it as a tool for success.”
Monica joined the AASM in 2013. She is responsible for reviewing all accreditation applications to make sure they comply with the AASM’s practice parameters and clinical guidelines, and may recommend adjustments when necessary. Outside of work, Monica enjoys exercising and the outdoors. She is currently planning a trip to Glacier National Park with her family.
Mary, Application Reviewer
“Create a project list of all tasks to be completed upon submission, and make sure the entire staff is educated on the implementation process of policies and procedures. Don’t be afraid to ask us questions!”
Mary has been with the AASM since 2009. At the time, she was the first and only RN application reviewer. Due to growth, she was joined by Monica 4 years later. She credits her attention to detail and organizational skills as being key to excelling at her job. Mary loves to bake, and always wakes up early enough to leisurely enjoy a cup of coffee before her workday begins.
Kristina, Accreditation Coordinator
“I love being able to experience the excitement and relief with the facilities when they become accredited. It is so great to see all of their hard work pay off, and know that I was there for them if they ever needed help.”
Kristina joined the AASM in 2017 and serves as the point of contact for facilities in the Northeast and in all of the West. As an accreditation coordinator, she ensures that sleep facilities are meeting the criteria of AASM standards, and assists those in the initial accreditation phase, the reaccreditation phase, and the in-between. Kristina loves to read, watch movies, and ironically, sleep!
Matthew, Accreditation Coordinator
“All facilities are trying to improve and learn. To know that I have my hands in assisting hundreds of facilities in doing this annually- and in turn, hundreds of thousands of patients- is a very rewarding feeling.”
Matthew has been with the AASM since 2015 and serves as the point of contact for facilities in the Southeast and the Midwest, as well as Puerto Rico, Guam, Canada, and the Virgin Islands. Like Kristina, he assists facilities in all phases of accreditation, and is passionate about his role. Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife, reading sci-fi and fantasy books, and playing PlayStation 4.
